Dstny HR honored with 'Employee Wellbeing Award'
On Thursday, May 30, the ZoHRo Awards were presented for the second time by ZigZagHR, the HR event that puts HR professionals and teams in the spotlight. Dstny won the prestigious 'Employee Wellbeing Award' for its innovative approach to employee well-being.
"We are extremely proud to receive this award," says Daan De Wever, co-founder and CEO of Dstny Group. "It is a testament to our commitment to fostering a culture of well-being and ensuring that our employees are supported and valued."
Well-being is a core aspect of Dstny's company culture, contributing to sustainable growth. We aim to provide a safe physical and psychological work environment and create outstanding experiences for our employees. We believe that the well-being of our employees translates to satisfied customers and, consequently, the success of the company.
Data-Driven HR Policy on Well-being
Dstny's well-being strategy combines formal and informal approaches. The formal approach is data-driven. Originally a Belgian company, Dstny has evolved into a European leader and innovator in cloud-based business communication, employing 1,100 people across seven countries. This rapid growth has brought about significant complexity. Daan De Wever, co-founder and CEO of Dstny Group, explains: "We lacked a strategic HR tool to help bridge the gap between employees and the organization, increase productivity, and maintain high employee retention. This led to the creation of the analysis tool Vitaminsatwork." This HR tech start-up was launched with support from Daan De Wever and co-founders Jonas Geleyn and Jonas Scheers, based on scientific research from VUB and Solvay Business School.
The platform provides real-time, scientifically backed, and action-oriented insights at the individual, team, and company levels. Each year, Dstny conducts a large and a smaller survey among employees via this platform, which sees high participation rates. The surveys explore the drivers of well-being and engagement, uncovering unique correlations. The results are used, respecting employee privacy, at various levels (individual, team, and company) to actively work on improvements.
Additionally, Dstny regularly conducts an eNPS (Employee Net Promoter Score) survey, allowing employees to provide direct feedback on their well-being within the company. These tools enable management to continuously monitor employee and team sentiment.
The Core Values of Dstny (ICORE)
The informal approach to well-being is based on Dstny's core values (ICORE: Innovation, Commitment, Obsession for Customer Experience, Respect, Empowerment). With ICORE at the heart, we consciously approach our business differently – within our company and towards our customers, partners, and suppliers.
Since October 2023, we have been working in our Dstny House, the headquarters of our expanding European scale-up. Employees needed new and modern workspaces, and the relocation process was unique and reflective of Dstny's company culture. Both management and employees actively contributed to the design of this building. We included coffee corners for spontaneous conversations, workspaces that encourage collaboration between departments, concentration areas, and an informal work café. Additionally, employees have the option to work from home a few days a week.
Dstny House: the design, variety, light, and color combinations tell the story of who Dstny is and how we position ourselves: professional, no-nonsense, yet also attentive and continuously connected with our employees.
The availability and openness of Dstny's management is another key aspect of our company culture. Group CEO Daan De Wever and the entire management team are approachable and have a strong willingness to listen. Transparent communication of the mission, vision, and strategy was recently detailed during a Roadshow across all European offices. Employees regularly receive context and perspective on the company’s strategy and future steps. Open communication, accessibility, a sense of security, and a perspective on the future foster well-being within Dstny.
The impact of the well-being strategy on the individual, team, and company is reflected in low staff turnover and limited burnout, ensuring that Dstny's consistent strong growth as a company results in a success story.
